Custom framing doesn’t need to be complicated. Here’s how the process works at our Artarmon workshop, from first enquiry through to collection.
Whether you’re framing a family photograph, an original artwork or a commercial piece, the steps are straightforward and transparent.
1. Bring It In or Send the Details
You’re welcome to visit our workshop with your artwork so we can see it in person. If that’s not convenient, you can send through the dimensions and a photo and we’ll provide guidance from there.
If you’re unsure how to measure your piece, we can talk you through it. Alternatively, drop by and we’ll measure everything for you.
Seeing the piece in person often helps us recommend proportions and materials that suit it properly, but we’re comfortable working either way.
2. Discuss Options
This is where the framing takes shape.

We’ll talk through:
Frame profiles and finishes
Mount options
Glazing choices (including UV or specialised glass)
Backing materials
Hanging systems
We’ll also ask where the piece will be displayed. The room, lighting and surrounding décor all matter. Framing should complement the space rather than compete with it.
If conservation is important, for example with original works or older pieces, we’ll explain what materials are appropriate and why.
There’s no pressure to choose the most expensive option. Our role is to explain what matters so you can decide what suits your piece and your budget.
3. Clear Pricing
Once we’ve settled on the details, we provide upfront pricing before anything proceeds.
If you’d like to compare options, we can quote different glazing types or frame finishes so you can see the difference clearly.
There are no hidden additions after the fact. Everything is confirmed before we begin.
4. Framing
All framing is completed in-house at our Artarmon workshop.
We cut and join frames, prepare mounts and assemble the piece on site. This gives us control over the quality and consistency of the final result.
Typical turnaround is around 2–3 weeks, depending on the complexity of the piece and current workload. We’ll give you a more accurate timeframe when we confirm your quote.
If you’re working to a deadline, let us know early. We’ll always try to accommodate where possible.
5. Collection or Delivery
When your piece is ready, we’ll contact you via text or email.
You can collect from our workshop during opening hours, or arrange delivery if needed.
If you’re unsure about installation or placement, we’re happy to offer practical advice.
A Straightforward Process
We’ve been framing in Sydney since 1976. Over time, the process has stayed simple:
Understand the piece. Recommend suitable materials. Frame it properly.
