Picture frame collages have risen in popularity of late, especially as it has become easier and easier to take hundreds of digital photos, and for them to turn out well. Now, it is common for families to have dozens of photos of themselves, spread throughout the house, or in a collage-esque design pattern.

These collages are often set out in a loose geometrical shape, typically on one wall, or perhaps sharing a corner. With perhaps ten to twenty individual photos, there is sometimes a travel motif, or a romantic one at work – but in any case, proper framing will need to happen, to protect each photo and to ensure that it is preserved.

In the past, most of these collages incorporated a similar frame. Buying in bulk, for projects of such magnitude, was the cost-effective – if predictable – solution. However, as creative types have taken the project on, newer, quirkier styles have taken their place. Picture framing in Sydney has begun to search out new matches.

For many, the task has become how to match a given photo to the frame, within the confines of the project. This enters us in to the realm of how to properly suit a frame to the motif and theme of the photo.

In field as subjective as this, personal preference reigns. But there are some notions that can suit any given photo. For example, a more serious and formal photo deserves a more stripped-back and professional frame. A classic photo, perhaps of someone’s grandparents, could be better suited to a more ornate wooden frame. A romantic shot could occupy a brighter frame, with softer edges.

As with so many aspects of photography, there are no rules here. There is only taste, and the ability to create something new and personal is one of the reasons that we enjoy enhancing artwork, memorabilia, and photographs here at Amarisco. So let your imagination run wild when framing pictures here in Sydney, we can make them come alive for you.
